Current Activities and Special Events

The V.F.W. Hall, is the site of this year’s 6^th Annual Cats Unlimited Meowwy Christmas Holiday Bazaar. The V.F.W. Hall is located along Route #60 (Midland Trail) between Buena Vista and Lexington at the entrance to Rockbridge Memorial Gardens (0.2 mile west of Exit 188 off Interstate 81). The hours will be 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Friday, December 2, 2011, and 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 3, 2011.

Items being sold will include handcrafted items, baked goods, holiday decorations, “white elephant items”, and new or used items that are suitable for gift-giving. Just in time for Christmas shopping! A 50-50 raffle will be held, as well as a silent auction. (Note: Cash sales only, please.)

Since 2005, the members of Cats Unlimited have adopted 378 cats or kittens into wonderful homes, and have been responsible for having 1063 cats spayed or neutered. The proceeds from the bazaar will help further their mission, as all monies will be used to pay for spay/neuter surgeries, other necessary medical procedures, immunizations, food, and other necessities for the cats that come directly into their care, as well as for providing financial assistance to spay or neuter stray cats that are being cared for by other individuals.

We are planning to do this again next year. If any of you are "crafty", please consider making some handcrafted items for us during the next few months so that we can sell them at the next bazaar. It's not too early to start. The date hasn't been set yet; however, it will be posted on this website as soon as we have it scheduled. Remember that your donations will be tax-deductible. Anyone interested in donating items to be sold at the bazaar should contact a member of Cats Unlimited any time between now and November 25, 2009. To everyone,

Here is an easy way for you to help Cats Unlimited financially. Do you shop at Food Lion? If you do, they have a program called Food Lion Share. Every time you use your MVP card,a portion of the sale will be donated to Cats Unlimited. They will donate up to $350.00 per quarter.

All you have to do is go to www.foodlion.com, find In the Community, and click on Lion Shop and Share, then register MVP card. Then follow the directions.

The kicker is we have to have 25 registered cards before they will start donating to Cats U, so please spread the word.

Thanks for your help. We have really been spaying and neutering this year. Over 100 cats so far . This has got to be helping with the cat overpopulation here in the County.
